Spring Retreat 2016

Our Lord Jesus Christ spent time away from the crowds in prayer and quiet, especially as a preparation for his own service. How much more each one of us needs to recharge our spiritual batteries and be renewed in our hearts, minds and bodies for the obedient service to which God calls us.

In the Spring of 2016, the St George Orthodox Ministry of the Coptic Orthodox Church will be organising a weekend Retreat especially for those involved in our missions in Stoke, Swindon and Windsor, and also those others who are exploring the Orthodox Faith with us in various places. It will be a spiritual time together filled with prayer, teaching and fellowship in which Father Peter Farrington will be especially examining the theme of our Lord’s words – You are the Light of the World.

What does it mean for us to be this light? How are we to shine more brightly?

The retreat will be organised for a weekend in the Spring, beginning on Friday evening and concluding on Sunday afternoon. All meals and accommodation will be included, and the retreat will take place at a suitable centre with facilities for spiritual activities.

We are now hoping to organise the Retreat at the Barnes Close Retreat Centre, near Bromsgrove, just 5 minutes from the M5. The date is likely to be Friday, 13th May to Sunday, 15th May. This is several weeks after the Orthodox Pascha in 2016, and therefore will be a time of joyful celebration. The cost of the event is likely to be £136 per adult, and £146 per adult in an ensuite room. We will confirm these details very shortly, and will begin to accept £25 deposits to secure a place on the Retreat.

We hope to organise dedicated youth activities and meetings during the course of the Retreat, while including all ages in prayer and worship.  The Retreat will therefore be suitable for all ages.

But for now, if you would like help us by registering your provisional interest in this Spring Retreat 2016 then please submit your details using this form. This is not a firm commitment but will allow the St George Orthodox Ministry to keep in touch with you.
